I am so excited to begin this Hockey East Player Spotlight here on CTNB with one of my favorite players from Boston University, Nick Bonino. Nick Bonino attended Boston University from 2007-2010, when he left after the 2010 hockey season at Boston University to join the Anaheim Ducks for the remainder of the season. Bonino was an integral part of the Boston University (Dominating) Terriers of 2008-2009, when they won EVERYTHING (literally – I remember the parade and they had a trophy for every senior graduating that year, which I guess was seven), including the NCAA Frozen Four title in Washington, D.C. against University of Miami (OH). Read more about Nick Bonino at Boston University, see some awesome Youtube clips, and more after the break.

I would like to take a moment and say how happy I am the Bruins are back and how difficult it is to type this on my phone. Challenge accepted. Let’s talk hockey. So far the B’s have started the season with a bang. After beating the Rangers in the home opener and skating away with a shoot out win in a matinee game, the Bruins head away from arctic Boston to New York City for a 7:30pm match up against the Rangers.
After the break, see the projected lines and prediction for tonight’s game. Continue reading ‘Pre-game notes: Rangers vs. Bruins 1/23/13′
Trade rumors have been surrounding David Krejci for quite some time now. His name is regularly tossed around when the talks of Bruins “trade bait” begin to emerge. His effort has been questioned by writers and fans on numerous occasions.
But allow me to rewind for a moment.
Arguably the greatest weekend of hockey we’ve seen since who the hell knows when. Let us start from the beginning:
Now that the real NHL Awards are over and all of your votes have been cast, it’s time to announce the winners of the 2012 Crashing the Net Awards.
With the season long done and the post season coming to a close, its time to give out awards for being awesome, for being mediocre and everything in between. Only your votes will decide who takes what category. Its the 2012 Crashing The Net Awards.
Last night I heard Jack make a comment about the Bruins with 20+ goals. It got me thinking, do the Bruins really have the most depth in the NHL? Even according to the numbers?
I took it upon myself to find all the 20+ goal scorers in the NHL. I sort of power-ranked the NHL teams according to the amount of 20+ goal scorers on the team. If there’s more than one team with say, 3 then I just put the rest in alphabetical order. I took no other stats into account.
I spent a good portion of my afternoon listening to this hilarious podcast on iTunes with TSN’s Cabbie Richards and reality star Evan Starkman (who is actually really hilarious, what?). Well anyway, Cabbie’s got this podcast show thing called “Cabbie Presents: The Podcast.” Today he interviewed Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin (separately) and boy was it a good time. I sat there at my computer, pausing the audio every 3 seconds to quote the guys because some of the stuff they were saying was just golden.
