Pre-game notes: Lightning vs. Bruins 3/13/12

Welp. I was actually expecting to dread this pre-game after that atrocious weekend of Bruins hockey. Actually, no, I wouldn’t even call it Bruins hockey.  I don’t know what it was. Anyway, I’m in a good mood because of this lovely weather. Let’s not ruin that with another shit performance by the Bruins, eh?

While I’m trying to keep this pre-game as bright as possible, I have to bring up some of our recent injuries and game-time decisions for tonight’s matchup.

According to John Bishop (@NHLBruins) Bergeron, McQuaid and Paille (who had all been suffering with some type of lower-body injuries) were all on the ice for the Bruins AM skate in Tampa Bay. Whitfield (uugh) was also on the ice with the Bruins this morning. No Pouliot.

It was also reported that Turco and Bergeron “looked sharp” on the ice this morning. Claude later confirmed that it will be Turco Time in Tampa tonight (lol) and Paille will play. Both Bergeron and McQuaid are game-time decisions. Pouliot and Mottau are scratches. Bruins fans can breathe a sigh of relief there.

Players to watch:

  • Steven Stamkos – While his team is struggling to grab a playoff spot, Stamkos is red-hot. He is currently leading the league in goals with 48 and is in second for points with 82 just behind Evgeni Malkin (ugh, again). To put it simply, Stamkos is dangerous. Facing the league’s leading goal-scorer will be no easy task for Marty Turco. This could be the ultimate test.
  • David Krejci – Another red-hot player with a not-so-red-hot team. He’s been playing physical and with emotion. His physicality as of late could be credited to playing wing for a brief time; not to mention he’s rackin’ up the points with the French Fry line. Krejci’s tallied 7 goals and 2 assists in the last 7 games. He’s stepped up his game when the team needs it most.

Projected lines:

Lucic-Krejci-Seguin

Marchand-Bergeron(hopefully)-Caron(AW YEAH YOU READ THAT RIGHT)

Paille-Kelly-Rolston

MacDermid-Campbell-Thornton

(B’s are dressing 13 forwards so expect Whitfield to be out there during warm-ups)

Boychuk-Chara

Seidenberg-Corvo

McQuaid(another hopeful, if not Zanon is likely)-Ference

Turco – IT’S TUUUURRRRCCCOOOO TIIIIMMMMEEE

Scratches: Horton (concussion), Peverley (knee), Rask (groin), Pouliot (lower-body? Who even knows anymore)

Final thoughts:

  • LET’S GET SHIT DONE TONIGHT, BOYS.
