Hockey East Representin’ the NHL – Dominating In College and In the NHL

Hockey East has dominated in college hockey for decades (well, since it was created in the mid-80s). The schools that make up Hockey East have many players in the NHL currently. Because I love Hockey East and all that they represent, in the next few weeks, I will be putting the spotlight on as many Hockey East alumni in the NHL currently as I can.

The schools that make up Hockey East for the 2012-2013 season are: Boston College, Boston University, University of Maine, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of Massachusetts Lowell, Merrimack College, University of New Hampshire, Northeastern University, Providence College, and the University of Vermont. Next season, Hockey East will add two more schools: University of Notre Dame and the University of Connecticut.

Hockey East alumni include the wonderful Jimmy Howard from the Detroit Red Wings, the fiery Nathan Gerbe from the Buffalo Sabres, Martin St. Louis from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and recent Stanley Cup winner Jonathan Quick from the L.A. Kings.

So stay tuned to learn about their collegiate days (maybe even some bad hair cuts or crazy rumors) and see just where these boys came from.

Pre-game notes: Rangers vs. Bruins 1/23/13

I would like to take a moment and say how happy I am the Bruins are back and how difficult it is to type this on my phone. Challenge accepted.  Let’s talk hockey. So far the B’s have started the season with a bang. After beating the Rangers in the home opener and skating away with a shoot out win in a matinee game, the Bruins head away from arctic Boston to New York City for a 7:30pm match up against the Rangers.

After the break, see the projected lines and prediction for tonight’s game. Continue reading ‘Pre-game notes: Rangers vs. Bruins 1/23/13’

Post-game notes: Bruins vs. Jets 1/21/13

The Bruins came out looking a little less urgent and a little less alert than they did against New York on Saturday night. Winnipeg took advantage of that early as Chris Thorburn put one in the back of the net about two minutes into the game giving Winnipeg a 1-0 lead.

Pre-game notes: Bruins vs. Jets 1/21/13

Just throwing this together really quick I only have like 7 minutes so let’s see how this shit comes out lets GO.

Alrighty Blake Wheeler, Mark Stuart and the Winnipeg Jets are rolling into Boston for the second game of the season. The Jets fell in their season opener 4-1 to the Ottawa Senators. They’ll be looking to rebound while the B’s will be looking to keep up their strong play.

Happy 29th Birthday, Johnny Boychuk!

Post-game notes: Bruins vs. Rangers 1/19/13

Crashing the Net is back!

More importantly, NHL hockey has returned.

Most importantly, the Boston Bruins served the New York Rangers a big plate of whoop ass in their home and season opener tonight. What better way to kick off the first game of the season than with an impressive win over a dominant force in the Eastern Conference?

Why Trading David Krejci Would be the Wrong Move for the B’s

Trade rumors have been surrounding David Krejci for quite some time now. His name is regularly tossed around when the talks of Bruins “trade bait” begin to emerge. His effort has been questioned by writers and fans on numerous occasions.

But allow me to rewind for a moment.
